Esomeprazole

The (S)-enantiomer of omeprazole, belonging to the class of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and healing of erosive esophagitis. It works by irreversibly blocking the $H^{+}/K^{+}$-ATPase enzyme system, significantly reducing gastric acid secretion and providing symptom relief.
