Cholesterol Absorption Inhibitor
A drug used to lower LDL cholesterol by inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol by the $\text{NPC1L1}$ transporter in the brush border of the small intestine. It is virtually always used in combination with a statin to achieve maximal cholesterol lowering when a statin alone is insufficient or poorly tolerated.
