H2 Receptor Antagonist
A potent Histamine $H_2$ receptor antagonist that inhibits stomach acid secretion. It is used to treat and prevent recurrent peptic ulcers and manage conditions where acid reduction is needed, like GERD. It works more quickly than PPIs but provides less sustained acid suppression. It is a widely used and generally safe alternative to PPIs for intermittent heartburn relief.
