Glimepiride
Oral Antidiabetic (Sulfonylurea)
A second-generation sulfonylurea drug used to lower blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes. It stimulates the pancreatic beta cells to release more insulin. Due to its mechanism, it carries a risk of hypoglycemia, and is often used in combination with Metformin when monotherapy is insufficient to achieve glycemic control.
