Rosuvastatin Calcium
HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitor (Statin)
A highly potent synthetic drug of the statin class used to aggressively lower high levels of LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides, while increasing HDL cholesterol. It competitively inhibits the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme in the liver, reducing cholesterol synthesis and thus lowering the risk of major cardiovascular events.
