Anti-inflammatory (IBD)
A prodrug of 5-aminosalicylic acid ($\text{5-ASA}$). It is delivered to the colon where bacterial azoreductases cleave the bond to release the active moiety. Used in the National Directory for treating active ulcerative colitis with fewer gastric side effects than sulfasalazine.
