A potent $\text{SSRI}$ used to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and social anxiety disorder. It has a higher affinity for the serotonin transporter than other $\text{SSRI}$s. It is also one of the few $\text{SSRI}$s approved for treating hot flashes in menopause.
