An H2 (Histamine-2) receptor antagonist used to decrease the amount of acid produced by the stomach, treating and preventing ulcers, GERD, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Note: This drug has largely been withdrawn or restricted due to concerns over NDMA contamination, but it remains a classic pharmaceutical ingredient and chemical reference.
