A synthetic nucleoside analog with broad-spectrum antiviral activity. It was historically a primary treatment for $\text{HCV}$ (in combination with interferon) and is still used for respiratory syncytial virus ($\text{RSV}$) and certain viral hemorrhagic fevers. It interferes with viral RNA metabolism.
