A synthetic nonapeptide hormone (also known as $\text{ADH}$ or antidiuretic hormone) used in critical care for refractory septic shock and to manage diabetes insipidus. It works via $\text{V}_1$ receptors to cause potent vasoconstriction and via $\text{V}_2$ receptors to promote water reabsorption in the kidneys.
